Ruinas de San Ignacio

Excursions

The San Ignacio Ruins, a small population, located near to the established reduction –in 1632- by the Jesuits fathers Simon Masetta and Jose Catafdino, was destroyed in 1817. In the bordering there are appropriate places for sport fishing and a resort on the Yabebiry stream with good services and facilities for camping.
In San Ignacio Miní live remains of what used to be the Jesuit Missions of the Guaraníes, an empire of almost 150 thousand inhabitants divided into 33 prosperous towns interconnected by roads, and with such an important earthly power that the Spanish and Portuguese Crowns felt threatened at the same time. In each of its rocks there persists the spirit of a cultural unio.
